Date intensive or “Big Data” computing plays an increasingly important role in HPC workloads and datacenters. The energy consumption will become a limiting factor in the future making energy-aware big data computing a necessity.
The Green Graph 500 list collects performance-per-watt metrics and acts as a forum for vendors and data center operators to compare the energy consumption of data intensive computing workloads on their architectures.
The Green Graph 500 list is maintained by Torsten Hoefler (ETH Zurich). The data is collected in collaboration with the Graph 500 list. The benchmark and the performance metrics are identical with Graph 500. It is also designed to complement the Green500 list with an energy metric for data intensive computing. The list strives to keep the differences in the rules to Green500 low in order to allow comparisons.
